Old, faded, and damaged photographs
professionally digitally
restored. A colourising service is also offered. If your original photo
is mailed to us, on receipt, a digital copy is created. It is this copy that is
worked on, which means that the original is returned to you
in the condition in which it was received. As no on-line credit
card payment facility is available for this service orders can only be
accepted from residents of the UK & Northern Ireland.
ORIGINAL PHOTOS WITH FACIAL DAMAGE/MISSING
FEATURES
Please be aware that without an undamaged reference
photograph, it is almost impossible to reproduce a person's original
features from a photo in which their face has parts missing or
badly damaged. In these circumstances, the appearance of any restored
facial areas will always be at the discretion of the person undertaking
the restoration work.
SCAN YOUR PHOTOGRAPH AND SEND IT FOR ASSESSMENT
Select any scanning resolution from 72dpi up to 150dpi with
an image type of "Colour Photo" selected (even for black and
white prints). Save your scanned image as a JPEG (*.jpg, *.jif, *jpe, *.jpeg)
file and
email it with a note of the work required. Max file size via email, 2MB. Above
this burn it to a
CD-ROM disc and mail it. Please include a
note of the work required. Also include
your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email
address. Discs will not be returned. After your
photograph is inspected you will be notified by email as to
cost, etc.
GETTING YOUR ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH TO US ON A CD-ROM DISC
To avoid the possibility of loss or damage to any
irreplaceable photo in the post, we recommend that you send a scanned,
hi-resolution digital image version of your photo to us on a CD-Rom
disc for restoration work.
Recommended scanner settings:
01. Image type: Colour Photo (even for a black and white print).
02. Resolution: 300dpi.
After scanning save
the image as a "Bitmap" (*bmp) or "TIFF" (*tiff, *tiff) image file, write
it to a CD-ROM disc, then mail it using secure packaging to the address shown below. Include
your name, full address, telephone number,
email address, and a brief note describing the work to be done. CD-ROM
discs will not be returned.
GETTING YOUR ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH TO
US VIA A WEB DOWNLOAD LINK
If you can upload a scanned version of your damaged
original photo, saved as a hi-resolution "tiff" or
"Bitmap" file to a website, let us have the link and we will
download it.
*GETTING YOUR ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH TO US BY POST
Given what can go
wrong in the post this
should be your least preferred method. Having said that, if you have
to post it, send it by
"Royal Mail Special Delivery Next Day" or by a similar
"tracked" courier service, packaging it as explained below.
Note: The slightly cheaper
"First Class Post Recorded Delivery" service from Royal Mail
is not a fully tracked service but simply a "signature" on
delivery. Apparently, "Special Delivery" is fully tracked
and therefore more secure. Please follow the three steps below to send
us your photograph;
01. Carefully place your photograph between two sheets of rigid
cardboard so that it cannot be bent or folded and tape the edges
together so that it cannot fall out. Just in case the inner package
becomes separated from the outer envelope write your name, full
address, and "Photo Enclosed" on the cardboard packaging.
02. Place the cardboard containing the photograph plus agreed payment
into a suitably sized envelope with a brief note describing the work
to be done. This note should also contain your name, full address,
telephone number, and email address.
03. Seal the envelope and write "Photographs - Do Not Bend"
on its outside. Write our address (shown below) on the front of the
envelope. Put your name and "return" address on the back.
Post to us using a Royal Mail delivery service or a suitable
alternative.
*No liability will be accepted
for loss or damage to photographs sent to us by mail, returned by
mail, or when in our possession. Mailing your original photograph
to us means that
you agree to these conditions.
APPROVING THE WORK
After completion, a JPEG image file of the
restored/colourised photo will be emailed to you for final approval.
On acceptance, full payment will be due. On receipt of agreed payment
the restored photo will be posted to your home address. See "WHAT
YOU GET" below.
WHAT YOU PAY
There is a minimum charge of £11.00. However,
because damage varies this means
that the amount of work, and therefore the time spent restoring and/or
hand tinting individual photos will differ. For this reason, and to enable a realistic
quote
to be given for each job I prefer to view any prospective work prior to
taking it on, then advise about the cost. You can then make a decision
to "OK" the work or cancel. The quoted price will include
return post and packing and is the total amount you will pay. We do not
charge VAT.
HOW TO PAY
By cash, cheque, or postal order.
WHAT YOU GET
A restored and/or colourised high resolution Bitmap (*.bmp),
TIFF (*.tiff, *.tiff), digital
image file of your photograph suitable for printing, written to a CD-ROM disc,
plus two FREE 4" x
6" (10 x 15cm) restored and/or
colourised photos, one printed on premium glossy photo paper, the
other semi-matt paper, dispatched by first class mail to your home address.
ADDITIONAL PRINTS
These are available at extra cost printed on premium glossy photo paper,
to the dimensions of your original print up to a maximum size
of A4 (8.25" x 11.75" - 210 x 297mm). Details on
request.
RETURNING YOUR ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH IF POSTED
If received by registered or recorded delivery, your original
photograph will be returned
to you using the same method.
